Hi 409, seeing that this blog is on the brink of death, I shall revive it with my magical, possibly-infected-with-H1N1 fingers.

(By the way, sorry for letting you all down today. Despite my inner qi being at its peak today, being force-fed 0.5 litres of water will destroy any dreams of another week of rest.)

So we're back in school. What is there to look forward to? Fabulous teachers? Exciting homework? Enthralling SIAs? Well, all of that PLUS:

1) Nanyang Festival of the Arts! A significant number of 409-ers are involved! There are still tickets for the matinee gala performance so come support us :D

2) The Mickey Mouse orange thing that has been above our whiteboard for ages. I bet NOW you'll notice that it's there.

3) Funfair (though it's postponed).. Our last chance to prove that we are reasonable entrepreneurs!

4) Me performing at assembly in late July. HAHA. No I'm not in HMP. But for some bizarre reason I have to perform with a HMP student. It's not a boring piano/violin performance! Percussion leh! Percussion has to be awesome! Blablabla

Okay thus ends my *cough* engaging post. Omg. I am coughing already. Someone quarantine me!!! Now!!!... Please? D:

hello four nine (:

in case anyone's interested and hasnt checked their emails, here's something to fill our dying class bloggie

Updates on 409 funfair

Updates of individual committees-information gathered from individual head of committees

Logistics comm- head: xinyi

According to the proposal, the balloons are attached to a big board (probably cardboard) that we tie to poles and classroom tables so it'll stand..but xinyi suggests that we just wrap one of those whiteboards-on-wheels with newspaper, then secure the big board to it. Is that ok?

Anyway, we need:

-Balloons/plastic bags (approx. 250?)

-2 big cones for goal post (borrowing from PE Dept)

-Big back board to pin the balloons (cardboard/styrofoam?)

-Whiteboard to tie the back board to (borrow from school)

-Newspaper to wrap whiteboard (since paint's involved)

-Darts

-Paint to fill the balloons

So the biggest problems are the DARTS, BALLOONS and PAINT.

1) Paint we can get from art stores, either acrylic or wall paint. Xinyi suggests acrylic paint. I agree with her also as it is probably cheaper and less toxic than wall paint

2) Balloons are really expensive so logistics committee suggest plastic bags used for coffee. Price to be checked out.

3) Darts are a HUGE problem, because the good kinds (that are dangerous and actually work) are rather pricey. Xin yi suggested making our own “weapons” and I have told them about possibly using tree leaves as a parent of a friend of mine apparently knows how to make sharp darts from a certain type of leaf so we could attempt learning.

Publicity comm- head: madeleine (madeleine will co head the committee with yunqi as yunqi is currently in china and uncontactable)

Intending to:

Print posters, which will serve as flyers too. They have suggested to print between 150-200 posters to paste around the school and to give out. Will also do up a banner for the store if necessary.

Work distribution:
Someone (undecided)... would design the poster/ flyer. Would be awesome if the people without comms could help out with the painting of banners and such. I have also informed Madeliene that she can use her own discretion to ask more people for help, but only to ask those who currently do not have a committee

Funds needed
We are pretty unsure right now, but will definitely need $$ for paper (for the flyers), and paint and cloth/ boards for the banner. They have estimated that they might need $20 but I think the actual price should be lesser.

Promotions:

They have yet to decide but I will talk to them and get ideas out soon.

Accounts comm- head: lien

Nothing much required from accounts committee now but I have informed li en that she is required to go with me to count our earnings on the day itself

Manpower comm- head: yunxin and huicong

We have distributed the class into different shifts and different duties with heads of each shift to enable easier dissemination of information. There will be 4 shifts and we will split the class up by index order.
